Doctor's Confession

“A Doctor’s Confession to the City of Woburn…” ...And why, despite all, I still do what I do…

Dear friend, Confessions are tough…  Real tough.  But, sometimes a confession can set the record straight, and I want to give credit where credit is due. Before I talk about my confession though, let me say a few other things first.

Let me start by explaining the photo in this letter.  You know, when I meet people in town they usually say, “Oh, yeah, I know you, you’re Dr. Mike.  I’ve seen your ad with that picture of you and that cute little guy.”  Well, I’m the guy on the left.

More than twenty years ago something happened to me that changed my life forever.

Back then, I was in high school and I developed severe low back pain from wrestling.  In my case, it came on suddenly.  It was the roughest day of my life.  The pain in my low back was so intense that I couldn’t bend an inch and I couldn’t even tie my shoes.  I was afraid that I’d lose my place on the team if the disability continued.  My doctor told me that nothing could be done, other than surgery.  Pretty amazing for a high school kid.  There’s more!

A friend of mine convinced me to give a chiropractor a try.  The chiropractor did an exam, took some x-rays and then “adjusted” my spine.  The adjustment didn’t hurt. It actually felt good.  I got relief and I could bend again.  It worked so well that I was able to continue on the wrestling team.  I was so impressed that I went to chiropractic school myself!

Now, as for my son Cameron, he’s the cute little guy in the photo.  He is about the healthiest little guy I know.  You see, he had his first adjustment when he was one year old and has had regular Chiropractic since. I see many children who suffer from ear infections, allergies, attention deficit disorder and asthma.

Can you imagine a little kid not being able to play with their friends in gym class, because they’re afraid of having an asthma attack or because their allergies prevent them from doing so?  That seems like a small thing but it makes a big difference to those families when their children’s health is restored.

It’s strange how life is, because now people come to see me with their low back problems.  They also come to me with their headaches, migraines, chronic pain, neck pain, shoulder/arm pain, whiplash from car accidents, backaches, ear infections, asthma, allergies, numbness in limbs and athletic injuries, just to name a few.

Here’s what some of my patients had to say:

I bent over one day and felt a pop in my low back!  There was immediate pain in the low back with intense muscle tightness.  I was unable to walk due to the pain.  I went to see my doctor and he gave me some pills to relieve the pain but they didn’t work.  Dr. Mike Pendolino’s office is in my neighborhood so I decided to give Chiropractic a try.  Today, I am walking pain free and I’m thrilled to have my independence back……………Angelina T, MA

My back was terrible!  I was hardly able to walk when I first treated with Dr. Mike.  He has made my life so much better and there will never be another doctor like him.  Thanks to him, I am walking again…..Ann C, MA

I suffered with migraines since I was a child. The pain was terrible and I was out of commission.  The meds I had to take were terrible too with awful side effects.  I finally gave an “alternative” a try!  WOW! I had no idea chiropractic care could address migraines so effectively! I’m a believer with 9 years of relief and counting from Dr. P!.................Laura M, Saugus, MA

Several times a day patients thank me for helping them with their health problems.  But I can’t really take the creditMY CONFESSION is that I’ve never healed anyone of anything.  What I do is perform a specific spinal adjustment to remove nerve pressure, and the body responds by healing itself.  We get tremendous results.  It’s as simple as that!

Being a chiropractor can be tough, because there’s a host of so-called experts out there.  They tell people a lot of things that are just plain ridiculous about my profession.  But the studies speak for themselves, like the Virginia study that showed that over 99% of patients who saw a chiropractor were satisfied with their results.  That’s just incredible! 99%!! Who gets that?!!

Forty-five million Americans no longer have health insurance, and those who do have found that their benefits are reduced. That’s where chiropractic comes in. Many people find that they actually save money on their health care expenses by seeing a chiropractor. Another way to save… studies show, chiropractic may double your immune capacity, naturally and without drugs.  The immune system fights colds, flues and other sicknesses.  So you may not be running off to the doctor as much.  This is especially important if you are self-employed and don’t have coverage.  And an entire week of care in my office may cost what you could pay for one visit elsewhere.

In some cases, health insurance plans don’t cover everything.  Sometimes chiropractic care is a non-covered service.  If that’s the case, we can help.

Look, it shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg to correct your healthCare is very affordable and you’ll be happy to know that I have affordable payment and family plans too.  High costs can add up very quickly, we can help you avoid that.

I earned my bachelor’s degree from Kean University in NJ.  I then went on to five more years at New York Chiropractic College and graduated in 1997.

I’ve been entrusted to take care of tiny babies, amateur and professional athletes, the elderly, the fit, the fragile and everyday people like you & me.  My point is, chiropractic is for everyone.

Our office is both friendly and warm and we try our best to make you feel at home.  We have a wonderful service, an reasonable rates for those without coverage.  Our office is called North Shore Spine & Rehab and it is at 20 Cummings Parks in Woburn.  Our phone number is 781-938-9400.  Call our office today for an appointment.  We can help you,

Thanks... Dr. Mike
